Patrick Cantlay WITB

Patrick Cantlay WITB 2026: Clubs, Ball & Golf Shoes

Patrick Cantlay has no full equipment contract, and his bag shows it. Most of it is Titleist, but the 4-iron is a Srixon and the putter is a TaylorMade. The 3-wood is a Titleist 915F, a model released at the end of 2014, which Golf Monthly calls one of the oldest clubs in any current PGA Tour bag.

The 2026 story is two changes. He moved into the new Titleist GTS4 driver in the spring, and he retired a long run of Scotty Cameron putters for a TaylorMade Spider Tour X. Everything else, including the 718 AP2 irons, has barely moved in seven years.

Patrick Cantlay's golf shoes: what the sources agree on

"Patrick Cantlay shoes" is the most searched query that lands on this page, so here is the full picture instead of a single guess. The best-documented answer is the FootJoy DryJoys Tour BOA, a spiked shoe that uses a BOA dial instead of laces. FootJoy's own email after his 2021 FedExCup win said he wore FJ shoes with the BOA Fit System (archived on Milled), and Bag Notes has four separate reports of the DryJoys Tour BOA, the latest from September 2025.

One 2026 source disagrees. Golf Monthly's 2026 bag table lists his shoes as adidas, without naming a model. We have not seen a photo that confirms a switch, and Today's Golfer was still naming him as an FJ wearer in March 2026. Our read: FootJoy is the safer answer, but a brand change in 2026 can't be ruled out. We will update this block as soon as a dated tournament photo settles it.

If you want the look, the thing to copy is the closure, not the logo. A BOA dial lets you tighten the shoe evenly without retying, which is why so many walking players use it. Cantlay walks 72 holes most weeks and plays in a spiked shoe, so a spikeless street-style shoe is not the like-for-like option.

Why the GTS4 is a bigger change than it looks

Cantlay played the GT2, Titleist's forgiving model, from June 2024 through the 2025 Ryder Cup. Bag Notes quotes a report that he was using a Ping G440 LST before he switched into the new Titleist GTS range at the Texas Children's Houston Open, the week the line debuted on tour. He landed on the GTS4, the lowest-spinning head in the family.

That would have been an extreme move in the previous generation, because the GT4 was a compact 430cc head. Titleist built the GTS4 at a full 460cc and says the larger size "significantly boosts forgiveness" compared with earlier 4 models. So Cantlay gets lower spin than the GT2 without dropping to a small, unforgiving head. He kept the same Diamana ZF 60 TX shaft through the change, which makes the head the only variable.

The 718 AP2 irons: seven years and counting

Titleist launched the 718 AP2 in 2017. Bag Notes records Cantlay testing them in November 2017 and has them in play in every report from June 2019 to now. He tried Ping Blueprint S irons and, in one September 2025 report, a Srixon ZX5 Mk II set, but went back to the AP2. Golf Monthly says he returned because of familiarity, since he won most of his titles with them.

The long irons are where he experiments. In 2026 sources show a Srixon ZXi5 4-iron, a Titleist T200 3-iron that comes in and out, and a T250 utility 3-iron reported at The Open. The scoring irons stay fixed.

The putter break

From 2017 to 2025 Cantlay's putters were Scotty Cameron in nearly every report: Newport 2 prototypes, Phantom X 5 and X T5 models, a T5 Proto and a Phantom 7.2. The only exception on record is an Odyssey White Hot OG 2-Ball prototype in April 2021. The TaylorMade Spider Tour X in 2026 is the first non-Titleist putter he has settled into, and it is a high-MOI mallet like the Phantom models before it, so the head shape family stayed the same even though the brand changed.

What amateurs can take from Cantlay's bag

  • Keep what works and change one thing at a time. He has kept the same 718 AP2 irons since at least 2019 while trying several drivers. If you test new clubs, change one at a time so you know what made the difference.
  • Old fairway woods are fine. His 3-wood is from late 2014 and his 7-wood from 2018. If your fairway wood launches well and you hit it solid, a new model is rarely the best place to spend money.
  • Split your iron set by job. He uses a more forgiving Srixon ZXi5 or a T200 at the top and players irons from 5 down. Many amateurs would gain more from that blend than from a full set of one model.
