Callaway Drivers by Year & Series (1991–2026)

No driver name in golf carries more nostalgia than Big Bertha, the club that arguably started the "oversized driver" era in 1991 and made Callaway a household name almost overnight. Every generation since has chased the same basic promise: more forgiveness, without giving up feel.

From the original steel Big Bertha to the current Quantum lineup, this hub covers every major Callaway driver by year and series, with links to our full individual reviews.

The Original Big Bertha Era (1991–2000)

1991: Big Bertha

The club that changed the industry. Big Bertha's oversized stainless-steel head was dramatically larger than anything else on the market at the time, and Callaway went from a niche wedge maker to a household name almost overnight.

1998: Great Big Bertha Hawkeye

Tungsten weighting pulled the center of gravity lower for a higher, more forgiving launch, an early example of the internal-weighting tricks that define modern drivers.

2

Fusion & the FT-Series (2005–2009)

2003: ERC Fusion

Named for founder Ely Reeves Callaway, the ERC Fusion combined a forged titanium cup-face with a lightweight carbon composite body, the "Fusion" construction that would define the next several years of Callaway drivers.

2005: Big Bertha Fusion FT-3

A refinement of the Fusion construction, marketed as the "new science of distance with accuracy" and backed by real tour wins in its debut season.

2006: FT-i / FT-5

The FT-i's distinctive square head shape wasn't just styling. It genuinely increased moment of inertia (MOI) versus a traditional pear shape, for more stability on off-center hits.

2009: FT-9 / FT iZ

A hyperbolic face design pushed ball speed higher across a larger area of the face, closing out the FT-series on a high note.

3

Adjustability & the X-Series (2010–2013)

2010: Diablo Octane

A budget-tier entry built around a forged composite face aimed at higher ball speeds for moderate swing speeds.

2011: RAZR Fit

Callaway's first adjustable hosel combined with movable weight, so golfers could bias the head for a draw or fade without changing swing mechanics.

2013: X Hot / FT Optiforce 460

A lighter overall build pushed distance for a broad range of swing speeds, positioning Callaway as a genuine speed competitor heading into the mid-2010s.

4

XR & the Speed Push (2014–2016)

2014: Big Bertha (Revived) / Alpha 815

The Big Bertha name returned after years away, alongside the Alpha 815 for players chasing lower spin.

2015–2016: XR / XR Speed

Refined aerodynamics reduced drag through the swing for more clubhead speed at impact, without sacrificing the forgiveness Callaway had built into the previous generation.

5

Jailbreak: Epic to Rogue (2017–2019)

2017: Epic / Epic Sub Zero

Jailbreak Technology, two internal titanium bars connecting the crown and sole, stiffened the body so more energy transferred into the face at impact. It's one of the more genuinely significant driver technologies of the last decade.

2018: Rogue / Rogue Sub Zero

A lighter overall build paired with the now-refined Jailbreak bars, aimed at faster clubhead speed without losing the Epic's forgiveness.

2019: Epic Flash

Flash Face used machine-learning-driven design to optimize the face's thickness pattern for ball speed, one of the first mainstream "AI-designed" golf club faces.

6

Mavrik & Epic Speed (2020–2021)

2020: Mavrik / Mavrik Sub Zero / Mavrik Max

AI-designed faces spread across the entire lineup, not just the flagship model, a sign Callaway's machine-learning design process had matured past a single hero product.

2021: Epic Speed / Epic Max / Big Bertha B21

Epic Speed and Epic Max split the lineup by priority, speed versus forgiveness, while Big Bertha B21 revived the historic name once again as a dedicated forgiveness-first option.

7

Rogue ST to Paradym (2022–2025)

2022: Rogue ST Max / Rogue ST Triple Diamond LS

AI-optimized internal weighting aimed at higher launch and a wider forgiveness zone, with the Triple Diamond LS offering a lower-spin option for faster swingers.

2023: Paradym / Paradym X

A new 360° Carbon Chassis marked Callaway's biggest structural change since Jailbreak, freeing up significant discretionary weight.

2024–2025: Paradym Ai Smoke / Elyte

AI-designed internal structure refined further, with Elyte carrying the platform into 2025 as the immediate predecessor to Quantum.

8

Current Generation (2026) New

2026: Quantum / Quantum Max / Quantum Triple Diamond

Callaway's current flagship: an AI-designed, distance-focused platform spanning a max-forgiveness "Max" model and a low-spin "Triple Diamond" for better players.
