Get a starting club length from your height and wrist-to-floor measurement. Wrist-to-floor does most of the work; height only nudges the result.

How to measure wrist-to-floor
- Wear your golf shoes and stand on a hard, level floor.
- Let your arms hang relaxed; don't shrug or lean.
- Have someone measure from the main crease of your wrist (where hand meets arm) straight down to the floor.
- Measure both arms and use the average if they differ.
How the calculator adjusts length
| Wrist-to-floor | Adjustment from standard |
|---|---|
| Under 30" | −1" to −1.5" |
| 30"–32" | −0.5" to −1" |
| 32"–35" | Standard |
| 35"–37" | +0.5" to +1" |
| Over 37" | +1" to +1.5" |
The calculator uses a 34" men's / 33" women's iron as its baseline. These bands are our calculator's rules of thumb, not an industry standard; brands' own fitting charts differ slightly.
When length isn't the answer
- If your strike pattern is on the toe or heel, check lie angle before changing length.
- Longer clubs are harder to hit centrally; many players gain accuracy from a slightly shorter driver.
- Shaft flex and weight are separate from length — see the driver shaft flex guide.
This is a starting point. A fitter with a launch monitor and lie board will refine it.
FAQ
How do I know what length golf clubs I need?
Measure wrist-to-floor in golf shoes and use it with your height; 32"–35" usually means standard length.
What is standard club length?
Our calculator uses 34" for a men's iron and 33" for a women's iron as the baseline; brands vary.
Is a golf shaft length calculator accurate?
It gives a starting point only. Posture and swing change the ideal length, so confirm with a fitting.
